John Allen Wilson's Obituary
Reverend John Allen Wilson was born on March 7, 1933 to Reverend Relious James Wilson and Mrs. Hattie DeVillars Wilson in Brunswick, GA. His parents preceded him in death.
Reverend Wilson graduated from Risley Memorial High School. Later, he served in the United States Air Force where he received an honorable discharge in 1958. He then attended A. and T. College of North Carolina earning a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering in 1961. Immediately after graduating he pursued his dream of Architectural Design, seeking employment with small private firms. However, the available opportunities were insufficient to provide for his growing family. He then sought employment with the Federal Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation where he could use his engineering skills. In 1962, this position brought him to California, and later to Sacramento, which became his new home. He worked with the Bureau of Reclamation for over 25 years when he retired. He became affiliated with Del Paso Union Baptist Church soon after arriving in Sacramento and was ordained a minister there in 1976. He actively served the church as long as he could.
Reverend John Allen Wilson went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2014. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Margaret Wilson Kinsey, Sadie Wilson Dawson, Sophia Wilson Shuman and Marian Wilson Lee; and 2 brothers – Relious James Wilson, Jr. and Charles Edward Wilson.
He is survived by the following: his children – Hope Camille Wilson, John Allen Wilson III, Germaine (David) Wilson Fountain and Bryan Aaron Wilson; his grandchildren – Camille Maxine Wilson, David John Fountain and Stephen Edwin Fountain; his sisters, Mrs. Willie Wilson Trimmins of Brunswick, GA and Carolyne (Nehemiah) Wilson Sutton of Albany, GA, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
