Joe Allen Brown Jr's Obituary
Age 71 . Our beloved family patriarch Joe Allen Brown Jr. completed his work here on earth on December 23, 2023 .
Joe was born to Joe and Lucy Brown in Sacramento, CA. He was a lifelong California resident.
Joe was an amazing ,loving and giving man . Everything about him was big, loud and fun ! ; hence “ Big Joe” his size, laugh, voice,tv volume, his phone, his generosity. He enjoyed a long career as a Teamster employed as a truck driver. There was a successful stint in management but he longed to be “on the road again“. Reluctantly he had to take a medical retirement when diagnosed with MS in 2010.
Joe along the way enjoyed hunting, fishing ,bowling, pool and stamp collecting and always his tv/movies .
His commitment was always to family. Joe & Judi attended church together building strength and faith. He enjoyed spending time together with family. Christmas was always the best day, he always went “big” for the kids and grandchildren.
He enjoyed playing Bingo with Michael and Brittany , watching and talking sports and his Fantasy Football with Michael and Layne. He enjoyed talking cars, knives and guns with James . Joe loved Elexis’s holiday sweet potato “dessert” and her deep loving heart . He talked with Tawnya about politics and history. He and Tawnya had a mutual care and understanding of their health challenges . He talked with each of his children daily (more than once). Playing games and movies with the grandchildren.
Joe married Jody in 1977 they later divorced .The gift of this union is their son Michael Allen. He married in 1996 to Judi a union lasting until his passing . Joe was “dad” to Judi’s two children Tawnya and James raising them as his own from young childhood. His whole world revolved around his family but he thought that his grandchildren JD and Bailey hung the sun, moon and stars they were “ attached at the hip”
