Jimmie Taffie's Obituary
Jimmie Taffie had a stroke at his apartment in West Sacramento, California from there he went to a rest home where he passed away December 3, 2012 at the age of 84 years. Jimmie was born in Mars Hill, North Carolina May 24, 1928. Jimmie moved to Alturas, California where he worked on ranches for a while then went to work in the woods as a logger and catskider. He then went to work for the railroad where he was transferred to Sacramento and resided there for 55 years. He retired from the railroad after 17 years. Jimmie worked various jobs after his retirement. To name a few Jimmie was a bartender; he worked on ranches and in the rice fields for Landing Farm Ins. for 6 years. Jimmie also worked for Oakland Bear Cleaning and Storage Company for 3 years, he was a janitor at Raley Field in West Sacramento, he also worked at the Convention Center. In 1999 Jimmie worked for Greer Ranch, he also worked for Pride Industries from years 2001 ' 2007. Before Jimmie had his stroke he loved to walk everywhere; he said walking helped him stay in good shape. Jimmie's two nieces Barbara from Shasta Lake City, California and Georgie from Grants Pass, Oregon came to be with him for 6 months every day since he had his stroke. They laughed with him and cried with him while caring for him. Jimmie is preceded in death by his 13 siblings and his only son Philip Dean whom he lost to cancer in January 2009. Jimmie is survived by his granddaughter Christine, grandson Ryan and step granddaughter Pam. Jimmie also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousin and many friends that he loved. Jimmie Shared a long and good life with his family and friends. He was loved by all and will be missed dearly. ,
