Jewel Mae Terrell's Obituary
Advanced Senior Mother Jewel Terrell was born in Paraloma, Arkansas, on July 29, 1930. She was the fifth of six children born to the late Walter and Gracie Ware. She attended Grace Chapel Elementary, Howard Country Training School and Childress High School in Nashville, AR. Mother Terrell relocated to Arizona in 1947, which was a major turning point in her life. It was in Bluges Camp, AZ., at the age of 17, that she united with The Surpreme Council of the House of Jacob, under the late Bishop C. Silas Hopper. She often commented that it was the love of the saints that drew her into the fold.
On December 14,1947, Mother Jewel united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, the late Advanced Presiding Elder James Terrell. They moved to Phoenix, AZ., San Francisco, CA., Richmond, CA., and Sacramento, CA., their home for many years. They were later blessed with one daughter, who they loved dearly. Mother Jewel and her husband had a heart of Gold. Their door was always open to the saints of God, and some had keys. They were blessed and overjoyed to house two of the Leaders of the church when they visited CA. It is recorded in Father W. B. Israel, S. O. T.’s bibliography, ”This Is My Story”, that “the Terrell home is a home away from home”.
Mother Jewel Terrell faithfully served as a church mother, holding office in my auxillaries. She was also a great help meet to her husband as she stood by his side when he opened new works in Yuba City, CA. She will be fondly remembered for her chicken and dumplings that she made so well, sewing and quilting, and cooking and baking various dishes for our many church functions along with the Daughters of God. It should also be noted that Mother Terrell found much joy in singing for the Lord, especially with the Jubileers of Sacramento, CA. and The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob National Choir.
Mother Terrell leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Elderess Debra Brown, son-in-law, Deacon Jesse Brown, one sister, Sr. Mtr. Vernolia Johnson of Los Angeles, CA., sister-in-law, Advanced Senior Mother Joe Jean Ware of Nashville, AR, and 4 granddaughters, St Airicka, St. Charity, St. Joanna, St. Ruby, one great granchild, St. Jocelynm and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
