Jeanette Veronica Jennings' Obituary
Jeanette was born on August 5, 1935, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Kathryn Luff and John Taliferro. She was the oldest of three children. She accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 12. She attended school in Philadelphia and graduated from Bok Vocational High in 1953. In 1956 Jeanette married Edgar Smith Jr., and in 1957 they moved to Sacramento where her four children were born. She traveled to Spain in 1962 with her family and had the opportunity to reside in other cities of the United States as well as traveling to Canada. Then in 1976 she met and married Charles Jennings and obtained a loving stepdaughter, Camilla.
Jeanette always had a warm smile, a loving welcome and listening ear. Her motto was “When a task is once begun do not leave it until it’s done, be the labor great or small do it well or not at all”. She loved to play bingo and the slot machines. Jeanette was a dedicated and loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, dependable sister, compassionate daughter, adored niece, congenial cousin and lifelong friend to many. She was known as (Nana) by her grandchildren, great-grand’s and their friends. She loved her family with a powerful passion and found great joy in them, some people even said she was over protective of her family and everyone knew they came first in her life. She knew where she came from, who she was, why she was here on earth and where she was going.
Her husband, Charles E. Jennings; son, Edgar A. Smith III, son-in-law Rick Smith, children’s father; Edgar A. Smith Jr, mother, Kathryn; brother; Hiram, sister; Virginia, four aunts, and great granddaughter Arya all preceded her in death and are waiting to reunite with her in their heavenly home.
Jeanette leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters and three sons-in-law; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law and, a host of other relatives, nephews, nieces, Godchildren, and friends.
