Javier was proceeded in death by his father Jesus Esparza; his son Javier Luis, his brother Jesus ‘Chuy’ Esparza.
Javier moved to Sacramento as a young man and met his wife to be, Lonnie, his La Leva, in 1980. He played soccer for many years, he would go with his brother Chuy. He would go running and come back and drink a raw egg like Rocky! He worked for the Hungry Tiger restaurant for many years as a prep cook; went on to work as a roofer at Suburban Roofing Company with his wife’s family; then began a career as a custodian at Spencer Maintenance; and lastly as a shop manager for Trabil Enterprises Inc. Javier, his wife and children roofed many houses for the elderly and low income families for the greater Sacramento area.
Javier was a long-time fan of the Oakland (LA/Vegas) Raiders. He loved to tease and play jokes on people. He loved smashing everyone’s face into the birthday cake. He enjoyed eating out with his family and sneaking out late at night with his wife. He enjoyed spoiling her with his favorite goodies. His favorite pastime was going to the Goodwill which he fondly called Macy’s. He would tell the kids, get what you want, I will get it for you. Cheto Paga! He was a great cook and enjoyed catering to his family; he perfected his clam chowder and chile relleno recipes that everyone enjoyed. He was also very proud to have the best lawn in his neighborhood, making sure the mow lines where perfect. He was a true family man, keeping his family together and very close knit, practically all under one roof at times. His joy was taking his grandchildren to school and other places. He was proud to attend his granddaughter Marcella’s graduation in person.
Javier was once asked by his grandson Cham, if he wanted to share his funeral wishes with him and he was excited to do so. In his own words to his grandson he said: I want family and friends to be dressed in black and white, I don’t care if it’s t-shirts or suits and ties, but I want an open casket so everyone can see my black and white tuxedo. My family in front of the thing so they can see me. I want everyone to remember me by music; Banda, Oldies, Ice Cube, Easy E, Dr. Dre, Too Short, Snoop Dog and Cumbias. People to tell stories, family first then friends.
