James Charles Humphrey's Obituary
James Charles Humphrey, born March 24, 1931 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away in Roseville, California, March 29, 2020. He was one of 12 children born to Otra Melton and Jesse Humphrey. He was known to his family as JC and to many friends as Jim. He will be forever loved and greatly missed by Delores, his wife of 42 years, his three daughters Rayvella (Ralph), Judy (Mark), Debbie (Al), many grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother and sisters, nieces and nephews.
As a young man he moved to St Louis, Missouri where he became a painter for Chrysler Corporation, and then to North Highlands, California in 1961. He worked for Aerojet and then McDonnell Douglas where he was the lead painter for the Apollo 11 space missile. He loved to tell the stories of meeting the astronauts for the moon landing. He retired from Wemco Envirotech Corporation in 1991. He and Delores enjoyed many years of his retirement traveling and camping with friends and grandkids. JC enjoyed baseball games, fishing and hunting, camping and being with others. Every year he had a wonderful vegetable garden and enjoyed the ongoing tomato-growing competition with his son-in-law. He was up for anything fun and always had a happy disposition. JC enjoyed attending church services and singing the hymns. He loved his family the get-togethers and will be remembered in those get-togethers to come. He is now happily with our Lord and Savior.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
