James Russell Cox's Obituary
James Russell Cox of Roseville, CA passed peacefully on September 9, 2021, 10 days after his 102nd birthday. Born August 30, 1919 in Kiowa, Oklahoma, he was a kind, gentle and generous man, always had a smile on his face and something funny to say. When asked how he was feeling, he would always reply, "With my fingers." James married the love of his life, Velma Adams (deceased), on March 24, 1941 and they had 2 children; Russell Lee Cox I (deceased) and Leatha Faye Cox (Nottingam) of Roseville, CA. James and Velma loved being with family and friends and hosted some of the best parties throughout the years. More than anything, they loved to dance! Regardless of the type of music playing, you would find them out on the dance floor, having the time of their lives. James didn't let the loss of his leg in WWII slow him down one bit. They traveled often visiting friends and relatives around the country. He loved fishing and always had some kind of boat. He liked to collect many things and saw value where most saw none.
James was the last of his generation to pass in our family and leaves his daughter, Leatha, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren and many, many of those who loved him.
