Patsy Berry
Mom,On learning that you had passed away, cousin Ted said, "…her quick wit brought many a smile." That's true, mom. I never knew anyone who didn't like you.I'll always love you and never forget you, mom. I remember good thoughts about you and am happy that you are in heaven reunited with your loved ones. You made so many sacrifices for all of us. I remember how hard you worked to provide for us, washing clothes by hand; picking fruit and cotton; growing a huge garden and canning food every year in the California summer heat; sewing and ironing for other people; making clothes for us, the grandkids and the grandkids' dolls; making quilts; upholstering; working at the egg ranch; preparing delicious meals out of almost nothing and being there for us all. I never told you thank you for any of the things you did; I took everything for granted. Our kids loved to go to your house and hang out with you. They loved the "inventions" you cooked for them.I remember the things you liked to do for fun, hauling Eric and Gary around with you when they were toddlers; going to Reno; cooking and baking; and traveling. I remember that you "had a thing" for shoes.Bill and I and our kids always looked forward to the family gatherings at your's and dad's house. You would bake pies and prepare food for days ahead, way more than we could eat. We would get some to take home with us, plus go to your house for leftovers for a couple of nights. We always had fun on Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. I miss those times, with all the grandkids running and playing outside and us visiting inside or listening to Jerry, David, Jeff and Dad play music.Thank you, mom, for all that you have done for all of us and for living to the ripe ol' age of 89. We will all miss you, but know you're in a better place and we'll all be together again.Love, Patsy
