Harry Oswald Kirsteins' Obituary
Harry Oswald Kirsteins passed on January 24, 2022, just one week before his “98th” birthday. He was born in Riga, Latvia and brought his European work ethics with him when he came to this country of opportunity. He worked as a licensed general contractor building houses, specializing in masonry work, for sixty-two years. He owned a small corporation called H and D Sweet Homes, Inc., where the slogan was, “Let us turn your home into a Sweet Home!”. Although he worked from before sunrise to well beyond sunset most of his life, he understood the importance for recreation as well. He danced ballroom, snow skied giant moguls while in his eighties, hiked, swam, and enjoyed playing piano, accordion and most of all, his harmonica. Although a generally quiet man, he kept the pulse of a family gathering with the music of his harmonica. His daughters Debbie Wassylenko and Ingrid Williams, danced as both little girls and adult women to their father’s music, enjoying his talent very much. His grandchildren, Vincent Wassylenko and Julia Heath, and his great-grandchildren, Lucas and William Wassylenko brought a smile to his face whenever mentioned. He enjoyed the last years of his life’s journey in the company and companionship of Evelyn Brown of Rio Linda. Their mutual love of ballroom dancing brought them together. We love you more than you will ever know Dad/Harijs/Harry…
