Harold Elliott Ries' Obituary
Harold Elliot Ries, born in Sheldon, CA on October 21st, 1922 to Virginia Flora Brown and Ernest H. Ries, passed away peacefully at Sunrise Senior Living of Rocklin on Friday, May 20, 2016. Friends and family are invited to attend the memorial service on Tuesday, May 31st, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes in Sacramento.
After graduating from Elk Grove High School, Harold was drafted by the U.S. Army. He served in Bismark Archipelago and Philippines. After being discharged, he joined the Pacific Fruit Express (PFE) railroad in Roseville, Ca. On June 23rd, 1951, Harold was united in marriage to Muriel Frances Pearson and moved to Elverta, CA where he resided for 65 years.
In his spare time, Harold enjoyed playing golf, watching baseball, football and maintaining the grounds surrounding his home. In 1984 and after 36 years of service to the Pacific Fruit Express, Harold retired. He continued to stay active by working at the Shandoni Ranch in Elverta, CA with longtime friends Doreen Irwin and Jay Pederson. While at the ranch, he went on to make many new and wonderful friends.
Harold was diagnosed with dementia in 2015. he spent the last four months residing at Sunrise Senior Living of Rocklin under an amazing team of caregivers.
He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Muriel Frances Ries of Elverta, CA, daughters Laurie Janene Keilman and husband Geary Keilman of Las Vegas, NV, Sherry Norine Hall and husband Shaun Hall of Newcastle, CA, numerous furry grandchildren plus many dear friends and family who will miss him very much.
