Geraldine Lois Runyon's Obituary
Geraldine Lois Runyon, 90 passed away on September 6th, 2024. “Geri” was born on July 24th
, 1934,
to Oscar Engvald Peterson and Maybelle Caroline Hall in Sioux City, Iowa.
Oscar and the family soon moved to Rio Linda, CA, and this where she grew up in the farm
environment with animals, where her “green thumb” was born and she learned to dance, something
not a lot of people knew she was so good at.
Geri’s first marriage to Sam Ellis produced two sons Dale and Sam. She later married Robert Lee
Runyon in April of 1960 and became the loving mother and step mother to five, her two boys and
Bobs daughters Bobby, Mikey, and Andy. They then had their own children Linda, Chuck, and Keri
for the crew of eight.
Geri was the true picture of a great mother, caring, honest, constantly busy, and always there for
the children which she carried on throughout her life with the grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
Geri was always at Bobs side, making sure to temper his outspoken personality with her calm loving
smile and demeanor that always made you feel at home and simply happy to be there. They were
the best hidden dancers you would ever meet. The two of them on a dance floor was like watching a
perfect picture being painted. It was smooth, effortless, and made you want to learn to be like
them!
When Bob was alive and all through Geris life until the end, their house was a haven for friends and
family that were down, needed help or even a place to live. Her house and doorstep were special to
everyone who knew her, especially the grand children because she made you feel that special and
that you were important.
The void that is left by Geris passing can never be filled because she was that person to so many.
Geri is survived by her daughters Bobby, Andy, Linda, and sons Dale and Chuck and numerous
grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Sam, husband Bob,
son Sam, daughters Mikey and Keri, and grandson Chris.
There will be a celebration of Geris life at Dennis and Lindy’s house on Saturday 9/28 at noon.
7060 Kingsmill Way, Citrus Heights, CA
We would love to see everyone who knew anybody in the family to come and pay their respects and
celebrate Geris life and let her know that we “loved her more”.
