Geneva Pickens' Obituary
PICKENS, GENEVA, entered into rest Saturday, April 8, 2006 at age 94. She is a native of Centerville, Mississippi born Monday, January 29, 1912 and a resident of Sacramento for the past 40 years. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband Oscar Cecil Pickens, an only son Byron Cristopher Pickens, both parents George W. and Louisa (Roberts) Spears, brothers George W. Spears, Lucius L. Spears, Clarence Spears, Alphonso L. Spears also sisters Theresa Fells, Leola Diggs, Erna Thompson and Ernestine Williams. She attendedAlcornStateUniversity andAtlantaUniversity also she was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Military Widows Social Club and was a retired Sacramento school teacher and social worker. To honor Geneva 's request, no service will be held. Family and friends will gather at a future date to be announced. In lieu of flowers your contributions can be made in her name to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes.
