Gary Gene Meyer's Obituary
Gary Gene Meyer, 70, passed away peacefully Sunday evening on February 23, 2025, at his home in Rio Linda, surrounded by his loving family.
Gary is survived by his wife Dominique of 26 years, his daughters Sheri, Sandi (Angela), and Tammi (Josh) and their mother Wanda and his granddaughters Aubri and Alyssa, as well as his step-son Michael (Sara) and step-granddaughter Zoè. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Donna) and his sister Susan as well as nephews, nieces, and cousins including his pets and close friends. He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Betty, and his siblings Charlotte, Roger, and Mark.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1954, Gary moved to Sacramento, California in 1958 with his family. The family moved to Rio Linda in 1968. Gary graduated from Rio Linda High School in 1973. He attended American River College for a brief period of time. Gary started working at A-1 Metals at the age of 17 and under the same ownership, he also worked at Elkhorn Bait and Tackle and A-1 Coin. Gary retired as Manager from A-1 Metals in 2016.
Gary had a great sense of humor and a big heart and during his lifetime, he enjoyed a lot of things. He enjoyed watching his daughters play various sporting activities over the years and most recently enjoyed watching his granddaughters play softball. He loved gambling, playing card games such a cribbage, hearts, and poker, going fishing, going camping, playing golf, painting, doing yard work, and planting his garden, just to name a few. Most of all he loved his family more than anything. Gary will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
