Forrest Dayhoff's Obituary
DAYHOFF, FORREST 'Wayne', Wayne was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on December 15, 1930 to Charles Walter and Lorene Esther Dayhoff (deceased). He passed away peacefully in slumber on January 10, 2007. Wayne said many times that the best that could be said of any man is that he was a truly 'good man'. Wayne was indeed was that 'good man'. He loved life, had an infectious laugh and added great fun to the lives of all who knew him well. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed his favorites every bit as much as his listeners. He especially liked rowdy games of 'Aggravation', fishing with 'Pop', movies, good cooking, and teasing his niece Leah. He rode motorcycles in his youth and even took up snowmobile riding at age 75. As he was fond of saying 'life with him wasn't dull'. He was a loving husband, sweetheart and best friend of his wife Joyce for 29 years. She looks forward to their reunion; she misses her 'cowboy'. He greatly enjoyed and was devoted to his children, Janice Ottley and her husband Robert, Rebecca Smith and her husband James, Walter Dayhoff and his wife Cathy. Wayne is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, his brother Sherrill Dayhoff and sister-in-law Rosemary and their children. His sister Dorothy June and brother Darrell Wayne predecease him. He also loved his father-in-law Roy (Pop) Yadon and wife 'Marge', his brother-in-law Jim Yadon and wife Donna, His sister-in-law Terry Beauford and husband Jim, nieces Leah and Ashley and nephews Christopher and Brandon. Wayne was a disabled U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked several years at Hulman & Company in Terre Haute, IN and concluded his career driving 'big rig' trucks for the Department of Defense at McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA. Wayne is a member of The Church of Latter Day Saints and a memorial service will be held Monday morning, January 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacramento Antelope Ward Chapel, 8583 Watt Ave, preceded by viewing at 9:00 a.m.. Following the service, a graveside commitment ceremony with military honors will be held at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, CA.
