Ethel D. MartinBorn in Marion, Illinois, raised in Rocky Ford, CO. Native of Sacramento, CA, for 75 years, and retired from the California Almond Growers. Age 93, born January 26, 1919, and entered into rest on July 29, 2012. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Preceded in death by husbands, Carl Howerton and Philip Martin, and son, Eugene ‘Geno’ Howerton. Survived by: daughter, Charlotte Thomas; and 6 grandchildren: Sherri Flint, Clifford Howell (Nancy), Shelly Stevens, Stacy Cooper, Kurt Thomas (Konny), and Craig Thomas (Blossom); 9 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother Clarence Groves; and nieces and nephews of Colorado. She was the best grandma anybody could ask for and she is deeply loved by many. She loved her family, going to Hometown Buffet, her favorite was dark chocolate, she was known for getting her hair done weekly, and she never went a day without make-up. Friends and family are welcome to the viewing on Thursday, August 2, 2012, 4-8pm; the funeral service will be August 3rd at 2pm at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, CA. There will be a gathering afterwards at her home.
