Emmett Downs' Obituary
DOWNS, EmmettO’Neal (E.O.)Passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007 after a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 12, 1917 in Ensley, Ala. to a family of 8 children. In 1938 he married Beulah Handley and they were blessed with 4 children, the first, Barbara Ann, preceding him in death. He served his country in WWII, returning to continue his education. He became a teacher, administrator and a Southern Baptist minister. He moved his family to California in 1952 to pursue his Seminary education. He continued teaching and ministering throughout his adult life until retirement. In 1966 he married Pauline Pabst who preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Madeline Sharp and husband Sam of Twain Harte; his daughter Catherine Laney and husband Vern of Visalia; his son Wayne Downs and family of Altaville; his step-daughter Jeanie Hannah of Randolph, Vermont and step-son Jack Pabst and family of San Diego. He is survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews along with his dearest friends Rick & Carol Pappan. Please join us for his graveside service at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd. Sacramento, Ca. on April 26 at 1:00 pm.
