Dwayne Dean Epp's Obituary
"In loving memory of Dwayne Dean Epp. On August 9, 2022 Dwayne passed peacefully from this world at his home surrounded by his family. He was a kind, loving, honest, and hard working man of faith. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather as well as an avid fisherman, woodcrafter, and world traveler.
He was born on June 20, 1935 in Oklahoma to Daniel and Helen Epp. He lost his father at the tender age of 12 and growing up on a farm he learned the value of hard work early in life. After high school he was granted a scholarship to play basketball at college, however, after one year he left college to take a job in Wichita, Kansas. After a year at this job he quit and traveled to California to join the AirForce. He spent his AirForce career stationed at McClellan AFB. Although he wanted to travel overseas, he spent four years as a radar tech patrolling the west coast during the Korean Conflict.
After the military he married the first love of his life, Beverly Joane Epp in 1962. They moved to Orangevale, California. Together they raised 3 kids, built a house and ran a small farm. Dwayne worked his way up from front office clerk to Vice President and Chief Safety Officer at Brownies Blueprint in Sacramento all wthout a college education. He loved being a Father, Uncle, Grandpa and friend. He enjoyed camping and fishing as well as spending time with his family and friends playing games like Pinochle, Tripoli and other card games. He loved Holidays. He was also a master at making delicious homemade ice cream. In 1996 his beloved wife Beverly died unexpectedly.
After several years he met the second love of his life, Frances Hames. They met while bowling, fell in love, and were married July 14, 2001. He was a patient, kind, and loving husband to Frances and they were blessed with 21 wonderful years together. They traveled the country and the world. They enjoyed many experiences abroad traveling to Russia, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, Netherlands, Mediterranean, Panama Canal, Rome, Spain, Turkey, Costa Rica, Australia and New Zealand as well as many wonderful places here in the U.S.
For 19 years he volunteered as a Docent Guide at the Maidu Indian Center in Roseville, California with his Uncle Merion who was like a Father to him. He loved being with Merion, working at the center, and giving guided tours to school kids and adults alike.
A strong man of faith, Dwayne loved the Lord. He and Frances enjoyed attending Sunrise Baptist Church, their Life Group, and helping others. They would drive all around and pick up people who could no longer drive and bring them to church. He also helped people with disabilities and was faithful to all people from his family to the person cutting his lawn.
Dwayne is survived by his wife Frances Epp; Brother Chirold and wife Glenda; Daughters Teri Epp and Julie Beckerman; Son Daniel Epp; Grandchildren David Nesbit, Amber White, Brandie Epp, and Kody Epp. His kindness, laughter, and thoughtfulness will be dearly missed.”
