Dorothy Dell Miles' Obituary
Dorothy Dell (Jones) Miles quietly passed away July 31, 2020.
Dorothy was born n August 26, 1934 in New Orleans, LA to Prentis and Annice Jones. In 1953 she married Robert Miles Jr., to that union came 8 children. She was a devoted wife until her husband's passing, and remained a devoted mother to all of her children up until her passing.
In 1963, they moved from New Orleans, LA to Sacramento, CA. Shortly thereafter she became baptized as a Christian Witness of Jehovah; for most of that time she attended the Del Paso Heights Congregation, with her later years being spent with the Norwood Congregation.
Dorothy was an amazing friend to many; she had a loving heart and a compassionate listening ear. Indeed, she also had a delicious sense of humor that kept many in stitches. In addition to being a great friend; her heart was open to many children fostered in her home. That was a definite testament to the size of her heart and soul.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Miles Jr. in September 2008, and her daughter Geral Lynn Thurman (Leon) in January 2001. She is survived by: her children Robert Miles III (Pamela), Antonia Lawson (Thomas) , Beverly Miles, David Miles, Michael Miles (Janice), Debra Miles, and Sara Miles; her sister Cynthia Sam; dozens of Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, and Great-Great-Grandchildren; a host of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews; and other special family and friends.
