The World's Best Neighbor. I first met Donald in the late 80's when I came back to Sacramento and eventually bought the house on Tenaya Avenue across from him, Dorothy and Eva. From the beginning it was clear that he was a true man of his times; that is, a decent, hard-working, intelligent and generous person with admirable values. In the years that followed he was steadily willing to lend a hand (or do it himself – see top of the tree), lend a tool, help with advice, trade personal stories and share the bounty of his garden. Always with a thought and concern for the welfare of his family and friends…meeting their needs as was reasonable and possible. I was particularily grateful that he open-mindedly accepted me as a single female who intended to work on the house … and any other interests that I had whatever they were. His friendship was of the highest quality and I am forever thankful for it. Rosemarie Martin
