Donald Arlen Drumheller's Obituary
Don, a loving husband and father of 5, passed away June 20th at the age of 82. His time finally ran out and he died peacefully at the hospital surrounded by his family. Don was very proud of his military career, which began at the age of 15. He retired after 24 years in the United States Air Force and then went on to retire from the State of California. He had an illustrious career during his 43 years in the American Legion at Post 521 in Rio Linda, CA. He was elected as the Post Commander, California’s Department Commander and National Executive Committee man. He was also a member of the 40/8 for 39 years. Don always said if he knew he was going to live this long, he would have taken better care of himself. He was generally more concerned about taking care of others. We are truly lucky he lasted 82 years — we had many great years with a lot of laughs along the way. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lerretta, and their 5 children: Dan (Allison), Marc (Vicki), Patsy, Paul (Robin), Greg, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, Sacramento, CA on July 1st at 10 AM. A reception will follow at The O Club inside the Lions Gate Hotel from 12-2.
