Deanna Lynn Wilkes' Obituary
Deanna Lynn Wilkes entered into rest on Thursday June 23rd, 2022 in Sacramento, California at the age of 51. Deanna was born on January 12th, 1971 in Sacramento, California to loving parents Priscilla Marie Smith and Russell Gordon Smith, and is preceded in death with her father. Deanna was raised in Rio Linda, California and is survived by her mother, Priscilla Smith, brother Russell Allen Smith and sister-in-law Crystal Smith. She leaves behind her loving family: Husband of 25 years, Christopher Wilkes, son Ryan Wilkes, daughter Marissa Wilkes, and 1 grandchild, Russell Christopher David Wilkes. Along with 5 nieces; Alexis, Elaina, Ava, Holley, and Vivian Smith who she loved dearly. She had many family whom she loved and was close to as well.
Deanna graduated from Rio Linda High School in 1989. She went on to pursue schooling in the medical field. Deanna met Chris in the early months of 1994, and soon married on September 23rd, 1995. They welcomed their first child together, son Ryan, in December of 1996. Two and a half years later, they welcomed their second child, daughter, Marissa, in May of 1999. Deanna enjoyed the next years being a mother and experiencing parenthood with Chris. She later began her long lasting career with the State of California. Deanna worked in numerous departments throughout her 21 year tenure with the State. She was currently working for the Department of Consumer Affairs as a Health & Safety Analyst. She enjoyed her job and worked extremely hard day in and day out. Deanna was on disability leave for the past 6 months of 2022 following her open heart surgery, and enjoyed spending every minute she could with her grandson, Russell.
Deanna was admired and adored by not only the people she worked with, but anyone who knew her. She loved to dance, and go out with friends and family. She enjoyed getting together and catching up with anyone who she hadn’t seen in years. She adored family dinners and going on family trips. Deanna had a personality that is rare to find and her spirit and energy made people naturally gravitate towards her. She was the type of person who would give the shirt off of her back just to make sure someone was taken care of before herself.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to a viewing between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, and funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm on Monday July 11th, 2022 at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd.Sacramento, CA 95838. In lieu of flowers, the Wilkes Family requests any donations be made to the American Heart Association on behalf of Deanna Wilkes.
