Obituary
David Eugene Angelo departed this life on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 8:00 pm at the age of 83. After battling his declining health he passed peacefully with his daughters by his side.
David was born February 28, 1937 in Poplarville, Mississippi the eighth child to the late Johnnie and Maggie Angelo. His formative years were spent in Poplarville, Mississippi and Berkeley, California where he graduated from Berkeley High School. He served in the United States Army from which he was honorably discharged and he settled in Oakland, California.
David had a heart for the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After serving in the military he answered God’s call and was ordained into the ministry at the 7th Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, California. He served as the Assistant Pastor and Superintendent of Sunday School and was very active in the Progressive National Baptist Convention. David obtained a BA, MA, PHD’s of Philosophy, Theology, and Divinity from the Sacramento Theological Seminary and Bible College. He became a lifetime member of the Sacramento Theological Seminary and Bible College Alumni Fellowship. He went on and founded and pastored the West Oakland Missionary Baptist Church which housed a Food Bank. He later pastored Macedonia Baptist Church in West Oakland, California.
He loved helping others and believed “there’s always a blessing in going and giving”. In West Oakland he was always giving food and support to those in the neighborhood who had a need. He was also very energetic and had a vibrant smile wherever he went.
Reverend David Eugene Angelo leaves to cherish fond memories his 2 daughters Davette Elizabeth Angelo and Monica Anne Angelo; 4 grandchildren King Angelo Washington, Israel C Washington, Mya Carolyn Lillian Washington and Harmony Rose Bradley; 1 brother James and 4 who have proceeded him in death Noil Sr., John, Robert, Curtis Sr. and 3 sisters that have proceeded him in death Everlena, Annie and Ruth. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
