Clyde Thomas Riggs' Obituary
Clyde Thomas “Tom” Riggs, age 77, passed away on December 11, 2023. He was born on February 2, 1946, to William and Myrtle Riggs in Reno, Nevada. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, William and Myrtle Riggs, and his sister Jean Riggs.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Riggs, who stood by his side through life's journey. He is also survived by his sisters Ellen (Bob) Juka and Joan Riggs. His legacy continues through his devoted daughters: Colleen Riggs, Elizabeth Gomes of Honolulu, Hawaii, E. Stefanie Laraguivel (Luis) of Sacramento, California, Diane Johnson (Marco) of Sacramento, California, and Amber Wells of Sacramento, California. Additionally, he leaves behind nine grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of whom meant the world to him.
Tom proudly served his country in both the US Navy and Air Force, demonstrating unwavering dedication and bravery throughout his service. His commitment to his country reflected his deeply held values and sense of duty.
A man of profound faith, Tom had a deep love for God and found great joy in sharing his faith and studying the word of God with others. The seed of his faith was planted and watered by his grandmother. For many years he served as an Usher and Sunday school teacher in his church where he met and fell in love with Mary. His spiritual guidance touched many lives, leaving a lasting impact on those he encountered.
In his leisure time, Tom found solace and fulfillment in working on cars, relishing the opportunity to tinker under the hood. His mechanical aptitude and passion for automobiles were evident to all who knew him.
Tom Riggs will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering faith, and his dedication to his family. He leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire generations to come.
A memorial service to honor Tom's life will be held at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, December 21, 2023 at 10:00 (Viewing) and 11:00 (Memorial Service).
Tom, you will forever remain in our hearts, dearly missed and fondly remembered. May he rest in eternal peace.
