Charles Leon Meadows' Obituary
Charles “Bill” Leon Meadows, Sr., 84 of Elk Grove, California, passed away, Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born May 31, 1932 in North Carolina to Roy Lee and Rose Meadows. On March 19, 1955, he married the former Joyce Ann McCoy, in Reno, Nevada. They were married until her death in 1995.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist and ship fitter in both Korea and Viet Nam. He retired in 1973 after 20 years of service, receiving several medals, commendations and citations, including the Korean, Vietnam National Defense, and United Nations service medals. He then worked at Almond Growers until retiring from there in 1995.
Bill is survived by his five sons, Charles L. Meadows Jr. and his wife Darlene Meadows. Alton Terry Meadows, Allan Curtis Meadows, Berry Eugene Meadows, and Gary Steven Meadows; 15 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; a sister Rose Marie, and many nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 4701 Marysville Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95838.
Reverend Charles Northrop will be officiating.
