Our Mother
Sister Cecilia Grace Redd was born February 20th 1960 at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento,California. She was the eldest daughter born from the union of Brother Ben Redd Sr & Sister Mary Louise Laws-Redd who were church members and missionaries of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob of the United States of America Inc. who worshipped in Sacramento, CA. The church has been very instrumental in all of our lives, and Sister Cecilia Grace was born a part of an era when the first members born in the church here in Sacramento. Most of them received their middle names from the Supreme Bishop (J.I.S.) & leader of the church. He gave her papa the name Grace for her.During those days the church members were very close and so Sister Cecilia Grace was raised by a village which kept her safe and sound and always under a watchful eye. Her childhood Overseer Senior Bishop W.B. Scott(S.O.T) would become the visible church leader & Supreme Bishop later in the years to come. The village not only included church members but also consisted of members from her natural family as well. One could say that she was blessed from the start.Blessed with love and safety while being surrounded by family & loved ones who cared about her during the early years, and rich with talents such as painting, drawing, sewing, cooking, singing and dancing which lasted her entire life.
We remember her today for giving vent to the spirit and bringing beauty & art into a sometimes not so beautiful world through our lives have been enriched. She fought a good fight until the body couldn't fight no more. On November 20, 2020, surrounded by family, her body was put to rest and her soul has gone back to the “God that giveth.” Sister Cecilia Grace Redd was greatly loved and will be truly missed. She is laid to rest with her” Papa” Ben Redd Sr & Eldest Brother Ben Redd Jr, her Grandparents: Pr Elder William Andrew & Eldress Gracie Lee -Laws an Uncle Alvin Laws and 1st cousins Gloria Ann, Dana Elizabeth and Dashawn Laws
