Carthen "Tex" Coe's Obituary
Coe, Carthen 'Tex' passed away on December 9, 2011 in his West Sacramento home at the age of 83 with his family close by. He was born in Texas on September 28, 1928. He moved with his family to California at the age of 17. He first worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad before starting his own trucking company; COE'S Trucking, which has been in business in West Sacramento for more than 50 years. He also helped the city in many ways, including volunteering his time and equipment for parks and various community projects. Carthen was the beloved husband for 61 years to Darlene (Hoeltzner) Coe, and the loving father of Deanna (Joe) Snyder of Placerville and Deborah McMurphy of Sacramento. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.V. Coe and Emmie Portillo; two sisters, Frances Beene and LaVerne Nuno; two brothers, Carl Coe and Carlos Portillo; and his only son, Duane Coe. He is survived by one brother, James McLeod; one sister, Johnnie (Herb) Wilfong; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral is December 20, 2011 at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes at 1:00 pm. at 4701 Marysville Blvd.
