Bobby Wayne Deary's Obituary
Bobby Wayne Deary entered this life on October 29, 1960. He was the 2nd of seven boys born to Jesse Lee Deary and Nancy Marie Deary. They moved from Houston Texas to California in 1963. Bobby was raised in Los Angeles, CA where he attended 116th Street Elementary School, Samuel Gompers Middle school, and Locke High School. He completed his schooling at Pasadena Community College and Sacramento State University. While at Sac State, he was perfecting his talent as a track star and at one point was training for the 1988 Olympics, but God had other plans for him. He is a graduate of World Harvest Evangelistic Ministries Bible College and Seminary and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
Bobby was a hard worker and put his all into everything that he did. In 2023 he retired from Sacramento Regional Transit as a Bus Driver after 10 years of service. Prior to that he was a Truck Driver for 5 years and a plumber for 20+ years. He loved the outdoors and in his spare time, he loved to go fishing, boating, camping and he also loved spending money on “Big Toys”. He was a coach for his son, Kaleb’s, baseball team at Natomas Youth Baseball for 9 years. He loved to laugh and often thought he was a comedian. He was called the “gentle giant” and liked to make jokes and have fun. He had a great love of music. He loved singing and tried his hardest to sing with the choir all the time but was turned away every time. That was NOT his ministry! However, he always found a way to get the mic and sing to his heart’s content. He loved fellowshipping with the saints and hanging out with the young people, often opening his home so that they could all come and go swimming. He loved food and eating at Golden Corral Buffet and Weinerschnitzel were his favorites. He also loved his late-night cereal and milk.
Pastor Bobby experienced many ups and downs in his life but never gave up. One of the greatest moments in his life was, after hearing the Word of God preached, his heart was forever changed and on July 28, 1997, he was filled with the Holy Ghost. On June 13, 1999, he was baptized in Jesus’ name at Zion Church in Jesus Christ. He was very devoted to the ministry. Through his diligent study of the Word and his obedience to leadership, he began to seek God for the purpose He had for him. During his seeking he began the courtship of his beloved wife Lady Nikkea Deary. The two married on March 2, 2002 and were later blessed with 7 children. Also in 2002, under the leadership of Dr. Gloria Jones, he acknowledged and accepted his call to the ministry. An ardent Bible student, he was anointed to teach and appointed to preach. Elder Deary was steadfast in the faith and committed to preaching, without compromise, the doctrine of the Apostolic Faith.
He has been an effective instrument in helping build the ministries of Zion Church by serving as President of the Brotherhood, Superintendent of the Sunday School Department and a Sunday School teacher. Upon the recommendation of his pastor, on July 25, 2007, he was ordained an Elder at Zion Church and in July 2020 he was promoted to District Elder by the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith (PCAF). He served as Chairman of the United Northwest District Council (UNDC) of the PCAF until they merged with the California Northwest District Council (PCAF) where he
served as Vice Chairman until his passing. Pastor Deary also served as the Vice Chairman of the California Apostolic Fellowship, under the leadership of Bishop Charles Jordan, where his positive impact helped upbuild the fellowship not only through his words, but his deeds as well. He was faithful in all that he did.
In 2010, the late Dr. Gloria Jones selected Elder Deary as the assistant pastor of Zion Church in Jesus Christ. After the passing of Dr. Jones on October 3, 2013, Elder Bobby Deary became the interim pastor. On August 17, 2014, with the sanction of the church and Bishop Troy Dockery Sr. he was installed as the Pastor of Zion Church in Jesus Christ where he served diligently until his passing. Pastor Deary loved Zion Church. He put many hours of blood, sweat and tears into getting the new building prepared for usage. Everything he did was done in the spirit of excellence
