Betty Althea Jones' Obituary
Betty Jones
September 10, 1933 - December 13, 2021
Carmichael, California - We sure lucked out in the mom department. Betty was born on Sept 10, 1933 in rural Montana. The youngest of five children, she had 3 brothers and a sister. The family eventually settled in Del Paso Heights in 1947. Betty attended Grant Union HS graduating in 1951. After high school she went to work at McClellan AFB. Part of her earnings were spent on flying lessons. It took two bus rides and a taxi to reach the lessons given at what is now known as Sacramento Executive airport. Betty persevered and successfully completed her solo flight. While roller skating with friends, she met the man who would become her husband. They were married in Nov of 1953. In Nov of 1955 the first of her three children arrived, a girl named Colleen. Two more children, sons Max Jr and Joel would follow over the next 4 ½ years. As her children grew and got involved with Girl Scouts (Colleen), Little League baseball (Max Jr) and Cub Scouts (Joel), Betty was there alongside them. In March of 1982, she graduated with a degree from UC Davis. Betty worked for several agencies while employed by the State of CA. She retired from state service at the end of 1997. Betty gave freely of her time and talents while attending Hillsdale Blvd Baptist Church. Her devotion to the church library and the English as a Second Language program benefitted many people. Betty was pre-deceased by her son Max Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing her children Colleen Bolles and Joel Jones and her former husband Max Sr. Betty also leaves her granddaughter Candace Bolles (James Schek), grandson Russell Bolles Jr (Jackie) and two great grandsons. Betty was 88 years old. Many heartfelt thanks to Maria Veres for her loving care.
