Barbara was my Mother-In-Law. I always thought of Barbara as one of the strongest women I had ever known. Her family was the center of her universe. She doted on her husband, Fred, and had a very close relationship to her children and grandchildren. One of my fondest memories of Barbara is from 1970. My husband to be, David, was graduating from Naval Basic Training in San Diego. Fred, Barbara, Bobbie Jo, my daughter, Shannon, and I drove down to David's graduation. Shannon, who was 3-4 months old, started getting fussy. As I went to get into the diaper bag for a bottle, Barbara decided that she would just nurse Shannon. She was still nursing Bobbie Jo at that time because there was only 11 months age difference between Bobbie Jo and Shannon. That was the first time that Shannon had ever nursed. Barbara thought that was just the natural and right thing to do. That is a small example of the type of woman that Barbara was. She was always there to help anyone that needed it. We, as a family, spent many Friday nights bowling, then going to Capone's for some fun, food, drinks and entertainment. Memories that mean so much that can never be taken away.
