Archie Gibson's Obituary
GIBSON, ARCHIE best known to young and old as Uncle Sonnyboy, entered into eternal rest on March 31, 2003 in Sacramento. He was a native of Starksville, Mississippi but grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was born on May 12, 1920 and would have been 83 on his next birthday. He has been a resident of Sacramento since 1947. He leaves to celebrate his life his wife of 62 years Dorothy; two sisters Edith Scates (John) and Francis Wagoner of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister-in-law Mary Lou Thomas (Ernest); two brothers-in-law, Alex and Jessie Powell. He leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. His parents, his brother James White, and the Chocolate Angels, Cater Lea Ray and Millicent Newell, all preceded him in death. Uncle Sonnyboy was a sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He served with distinction and earned a Bronze Star. The family invites friends to visit Tuesday, April 8th from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd. The funeral and burial will also be at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at 12:00 noon.
