ANTHONY ALEXANDER JONES
AUGUST 16, 1958 - MAY 11, 2020
Anthony Alexander Jones passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020, in Sacramento, California, after a lengthy illness.
Anthony (Tony) was born on August 16, 1958, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to the late Henry Jones Sr. and Ella Mae Bridges. He was one of eight children. He is also preceded in death by two sisters: Gloria Beall of Ansonia, Connecticut and Veronica Jones Brown of New Haven, Connecticut.
Anthony received his education in Connecticut at Ansonia High School. He came to Sacramento in 1978. He enjoyed working with his hands and working outdoors. He worked for many years as a laborer and independent contractor/landscaper. He also worked several years as an 18 wheeler truck driver; delivering product to vendors in different states.
Anthony and Delores Johnson joined together in marriage in 1982. Anthony was overjoyed when they welcomed their daughter, Antionette, to their family in 1984. Anthony enjoyed listening to music, especially jazz; singing along with the oldies, reading the Bible, and drawing, laughing, and talking to friends. Anthony also enjoyed spending time with family and preparing for family gatherings.
Anthony was kind, generous and always willing and wanting to help. He had a compassionate heart.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory: Delores Johnson, daughter, Antionette Jones; step-son David Johnson; seven grandchildren - Dashi, Austin, Darion, Davon, Tristen, Aiden, and Tamera; two sisters - Shirley Jackson of South Carolina, Linda Howard of Ansonia, Connecticut; three brothers - Henry Jones Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, Eddie Jones of Chicago, Illinois, and Rico Jones of New Haven, Connecticut; three brother-in-laws - John Clemon of Sacramento, California, and Larry Clemon and Lyndon Atkins of Mobile, Alabama; four sister-in-laws - Sharon (Frank) Hally, Corrine (Glenn) Gray, Brenda Smith, all of Sacramento, California, and Lori (James) Crawford of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He also leaves two aunts - Thedis Gatison of Ansonia, Connecticut, and Azylee Daye of North Carolina; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
