Amanda Teckle Hack's Obituary
HACK, AMANDA T. was born December 29,1895 in Bellingham, Minnesota, and passed away on October 11, 2001 at her home in Susanville, California. She lived to see three centuries, raised 9 children, and has enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, totaling over 100. Moving to Deering, North Dakota for employment, Amanda met her future husband, Clayton E. Hack, and they were married on December 14, 1915. Clayton and Amanda moved to Malta, Montana to homestead in 1918. As homesteaders, Amanda raised 5 boys and 4 girls while working along side her husband. Amanda's tender heart and strong spirit saw them though the depression, Montana winters and summer droughts. Due to receiving word from Clayton's mother, who was severly burned, and needed their help, they moved to Rio Linda, California with their three younger children in 1943. Amanda was gifted with many talents which she used to help her family bring in extra income. Her speciality was baking and decorating cakes. Amanda enjoyed her grandchildren, who always found her cookie jar full; her flower gardens; crocheting; crafts; collecting salt and pepper shakers; and creating art out of driftwood. All of Amanda's family and friends enjoyed the traditional Norweigan Christmas Eve lutefisk and lefse dinner in her home. Amanda's living children are Marie St. Jacque of Susanville, California; Vera McClanahan of Cut Bank, Montana; Clifford Hack of Kennewick, Washington; June Hendrickson of Citrus Heights, California; Vernon Hack of Forrest Hill, California; Doris Kile of Vacaville,California and Floyd Hack of Newcastle, California.
