Alvin Wayne Willmett's Obituary
Alvin Wayne Willmett, Sr. was born to Lewis and Nellie Willmett on March 30, 1924, in Hominy, Oklahoma, and passed away on April 19, 2013, in Citrus Heights, California at the age of 89. He was a painter by trade for all of his life and worked on the restoration of the capitol building in Sacramento in the early 1980’s. Alvin was a World War II veteran and enjoyed a life full of traveling, country music, playing the mandolin and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He was very proud of his Potawatomi Native American heritage and Oklahoma roots, and would travel to Oklahoma as often as he could. Alvin is survived by Judy Willmett, his devoted wife of 72 years; daughter Carol Willmett and son-in-law Reuven Epstein of Galt, California; son Alvin Wayne Willmett, Jr. and daughter-in-law Yvonda Willmett of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter Cynthia Willmett of Citrus Heights, California; son-in-law, William Edwards of Loomis, California; his loving caregiver and friend, Elaina Fisher of Citrus Heights, California; grandchildren Sean Proctor, Jocelyn Pickens, Alexa Pickens, Judie Edwards, Sharon Bolshakov, Michael Edwards, Kenneth Ablog, Heather Lane, Francisco Sanchez, and great-grandchildren, Kaitie Edwards, Scott Edwards, Carlie Jones, Cassidy Lane, Maya Sanchez, and predeceased by daughter Beverly Edwards, parents and siblings, Arlene McKee, Mildred Yandle and Amos Willmett. A celebration of Alvin’s life will take place on May 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maidu Community Center, 1550 Maidu Drive, Roseville, California, in the Senior Meeting Room.
