Alta Mae McElroy's Obituary
Alta Mae McElroy passed away on August 3, 2015 in Anacortes, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Leon McElroy, a son, Michael McElroy, another son, Donald McElroy, four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Collins of Rocklin, CA, one son, Robert McElroy of Anacortes, WA, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and three sisters.
Alta was born in Mangum, OK on October 17, 1920. She was married to Melvin McElroy on May 17, 1941 in Mangum, OK. She lived for many years in Salinas, CA before moving, successively, to Bakersfield, CA, Woodland, CA, Yuba City, CA and in several homes in the Sacramento area as her husband relocated for various employment with various county governments. She was a homemaker for many years, but worked in produce preparation, as a school bus driver and as a beautician.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Chapel of the Chimes in Sacramento followed by interment in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
