Richard Ray Kyle's Obituary
Richard “Dick / Rick” Kyle of Citrus Heights, California passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at the age of 82. After a short period of declining health, Dick died peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
He was born to parents Harry and Rose Kyle, on April 3, 1940, in Redding, California. Dick graduated from Shasta Union High School in 1958. Following graduation, he enlisted into the US Navy and served honorably for four years. Shortly after his service to our country, he relocated to the Sacramento area in 1963 and embarked on the next chapter of his career with Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED) as an electrician and inside salesman. Dick retired in 2003 after 40 years with CED, and although he loved his job and co-workers, he was thrilled to put aside the daily grind and usher in endless leisure.
First and foremost, family always came first for Dick. Right behind family was his love for sports, especially baseball, where he would tirelessly root for the San Francisco Giants, and in football, he was a dyed-in-the-wool San Francisco 49ers fan. As an avid softball player, he shined brightly on the playing field. The team first mindset and selfless play he exhibited on the diamond was a perfect example of his character. In addition to his passion for sports, Dick was also an enthusiastic traveler and RVer. A few of his wonderful experiences include traveling to Utah on multiple occasions for softball tournaments, snowbirding in Arizona and RVing across the country with close friends, and touring throughout Germany and Costa Rica. He was at his best when he could incorporate both traveling and softball in the same trip, especially if it included geocaching along the way. Above all, he just enjoyed life and thus, he so eloquently expressed: “I HAD A VERY GOOD DASH BETWEEN MY BORN-ON DATE AND MY DIED-ON DATE”.
Dick is survived by his two children, daughter Dina Mistretta and son Randy Kyle; two wonderful and loving grandchildren, Tiffany and Nik Mistretta; a beautiful and precious great-granddaughter MaKenna Mistretta; countless extended family members; and of course, his loving cat Molly. All held him in the highest regard and loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Doris Evans.
The graveside service for Dick will be at the Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 4701 Marysville Blvd, Sacramento, CA on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 10:00 AM, entombment to follow. There will be visitation from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the same location on Thursday, March 2, 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the memory of Dick Kyle may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at T2T.org or charity of your choosing.
