Evalena a lifelong resident of Woodland and Sacramento past around 1:00pm on Saturday the 27th of May. Evalena who was born from the parents of Julius Odell Simmons and Canzanetta Corbett. Evalena Lee is survived by Nephews Stephen and Michael Simmons, Nieces Anne and April Simmons, Great Nephew Levon and Ernest Simmons and Family, Great Nephew Ben Mulholland and Family, Great Nephew Taj Thomas and Family, Great Nephew Stephen Simmons Jr., Sister in-law Patricia Simmons and Family, Sister in- law Bettye Ware; Proceeded in death by husband Lloyd lee, brothers Cephus and Alfred Simmons, Nephew Corwin Simmons.
Evalena grew up in Woodland and graduated from Woodland High. Evalena was a very intelligent woman who make you laugh just from her personality. Being an intelligent woman she once taken a test for a position at Stanford Research Department and out of 500 applicants was hired immediately. She was one of the first African Americans to get hired in the 1950’s. After 7 years working at Stanford Research Department she decided she wanted to come back to Sacramento and work near home. She ended up working for DMV for the next 30 years and married Lloyd Lee. Retiring from DVM she lived the rest of her life in Sacramento. She will always be remember by how she made people laugh.
Once again she will be united with the love of her life Lloyd Lee.
