Barbara Dyer's Obituary
On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Barbara Nell Dyer, devoted wife and mother of three, passed away peacefully at home in Rio Linda, California age 89 after a quiet battle with cancer.
Barbara was born April 30, 1933 to Lela and Walter Hight. Barbara was their first born, older sister to Jimmy and Sharon. On November 28, 1952 she married her high school sweetheart Terrell Worth Dyer after both graduating from Woodland High School, class of 1952. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before Terry’s passing in March 2013. They raised two sons, Jerry and Larry, and daughter, Melissa.
Barbara had a passion for quilting and all things butterfly and her favorite color was pink. She made many quilts after retiring from Rio Linda School District in 1989. Barbara and Terry enjoyed square dancing with the Swing Shifters for many years, something they enjoyed back in the 1960’s and took back up after retirement. She was quite a seamstress since a young age, she made their matching square dancing outfits, that were all very beautiful. She transitioned her love of sewing to quilting and was a member of Roseville Quilt Guild and made beautiful quilts for loved ones.
Barbara was one of the kindest and sweetest people you could ever meet. She always put others first. She had many close friends that she still spent time with right up until her passing. She really loved her lunches out and spending time with them, whether in person or hours on the phone.
