Mirtle Nell Lehman-Hall

Birth Date: January 5, 1916
Death Date: February 7, 2004

Mrs. Nell Lehman-Hall Nell was born on January 5th, 1916, in Sutherland, Utah, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on February 7th, 2004. Having just celebrated her birthday, she was 88 years old. Nell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was also a long standing resident of Rio Linda. She, her first husband, Peter James Lehman, and their son, Robert Lehman, settled here from Santa Rosa in 1945. At that time, Nell was nursing at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, and Pete was a carpenter. In the late 50Тs and early 60Тs, Nell, Pete and their son Bob, opened their first businesses in Rio Linda, BobТs Hancock Service on M Street, where a gas station currently resides in the center of town, and then another location, on Marysville Blvd. Nell was instrumental in bringing a banking institution to Rio Linda, and was active in the Rebekah Lodge No. 378, having served as Noble Grand in 1959. Later in her life, she would open yet another business in Rio Linda, with her son and grandsons, Double T Auto Parts and Service, where the fire station is currently located. When the businesses closed in the mid-seventies, Nell went back to nursing, and worked at Heritage Convalescent Hospital as a treatment nurse and inservice leader. Nell loved nursing and once was asked what her favorite dress was, in all her memory? It was not a wedding dress, or a favorite ball gown, she answered – it was her nurses uniform, stating УIt was the only dress I ever dreamed of wearing.ФNell and Pete had hoped that they would have a big family, but with their only surviving son Bob, that seemed like a dream that would not be realized. When the challenge of raising three of her grandchildren, Mike, Donny and Renee came, she truly did get the big family she always wanted.Nell always said she was lucky enough to have the love of two great men in her life. The passing of NellТs first husband in December of 1978 after 41 years of marriage, opened a new phase for her. This phase brought her love again, when she married Dusty Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Hall celebrated 23 years of marriage. Dusty and Nell could be seen at the Rio Linda Senior Center eating lunch or playing bingo on a regular basis. She was also a member of the Rio Linda Grange.NellТs circle of love and caring included her husband, her church, her friends, her patients, her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Peter James Lehman, Jr., her first husband, Peter James Lehman, Sr., and her grandson, Robert Scott Lehman. She is survived by her husband, Dusty Hall, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Brenda Lehman, her grandchildren Michael and Robin Lehman, Donald and Wendy Lehman, Renee (Lehman )and Mark Newman, Laura (Lehman) and David Deniz, and great-grandchildren, Mikey, Kimey, Brittany, Alex, Scotty, Erica, Sierra and Kendall. All are invited to services that will be held at Sunset Lawn, Chapel of the Chimes.4701 Maysville Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95838. Visitation is Friday, February 13th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and a memorial service honoring her life will be on Saturday, February 14th, Valentines Day, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park.
