Lonnie Franklin Pike

Birth Date: April 6, 1920
Death Date: March 21, 2016

Our loving patriarch, Lonnie Franklin Pike, was born on April 6, 1920 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri (Cedar County) and passed on March 21, 2016 (95 years old) in Sacramento, CA. His passing was sudden and shortly after the passing of his beloved wife of almost 72 years, Bessie May Casey Pike, who passed on February 1, 2016. He spent his last days preparing for his own departure by taking care of earthly chores so he could reunite with her. Lonnie was born to Franklin Johnson (Johnce) Pike and Mary Alice Hollingsworth Pike. He was the youngest of 14 children. His mother died when he was almost 3 years old and his father died a few days before his 11th birthday. Therefore, a few of his adult sisters took on the role as his caregiver. His education was limited, however, he always claimed he went through college at the University of Nevada (in one door and out the other) as he loved to joke and was forever the character! After a career as a Heavy Equipment Operator, he retired from Teichert Construction and was extremely proud of his contribution in developing Sacramento and beyond.
Lonnie and Bessie had 4 children; Lonnie Ray (deceased), his twin sister, Bonnie May (deceased) and two surviving daughters, Linda and Joy. They also leave behind 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Lonnie (Pops) was full of life, fun, love, stories and his laugh was contagious! He was the best storyteller ever and would go to great extremes to pull a practical joke on someone. He loved his family with a heartfelt passion. To know him was to love and adore him. He will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to meet him.
