Jayne Frye Mc Cord

Birth Date: March 11, 1921
Death Date: June 17, 2015

Jayne Eleanor Frye McCord, 94, of Sacramento passed away surrounded by family on June 17, 2015. Jayne was born on March 11, 1921 in Findley, Ohio to Samuel and Mable Frye. She was the third of four children – two brothers, Tom and Jim Frye and a sister, Marjorie Evans. Jayne always loved the arts – theater and drawing. She often commented later in life that she had wanted to be an actress with Nelson Eddy as her leading man. Jayne graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburg in the mid 1940’s as a fashion illustrator for department stores and studios in the mid-west. Her last and most favorite job was as a fashion illustrator within the art department of the Milwaukee Journal. She was the only woman in the art department and her fashion illustrations were often featured in the paper. Jayne loved to go out after work and have a martini with co-workers. She met her future leading man, Robert “Bob” McCord at a Schlitz Brewery Christmas party in Milwaukee in the early 1950’s. Bob would later tell family that “she looked really good” the first time he saw her. She continued at the Journal until she retired on her wedding day. Jayne and Bob were married on November 5, 1955 in Milwaukee. She loved music, singing, dancing (which started at the age of 4). Jayne and Bob were avid Scottish Country dancers, many times traveling to San Francisco or Mill Valley on Friday nights just to attend classes and be with friends. They also loved taking county line dancing classes at the In Cahoots Dance Hall on Arden Way. Their friends and fellow dancers affectionately referred to them as “Mr. & Mrs. In Cahoots.” She met very interesting people throughout her life and admired people with character, principles, a sense of humor, optimism, courage, concern for others, and a love of America. Jayne is proceeded in death by her three siblings and most recently her “leading man” Bob, on February 11, 2015. She is survived by her loving son Dan (Nancy), grandchildren Elizabeth (Cory) Buttler and Stephen McCord, great grandson Henry James Buttler and many family and friends. Services are being arranged through Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes.
