Henrietta Wright passed away peacefully on January 9, 2017, at the age of 73. A mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she was loved and adored by many. Henrietta, also lovingly known as “Henri”. was born in Portland, Arkansas on March 10, 1943 to Annie Mae and Albert Ollison.
Henri was the beloved wife of Theodis (Ted) Wright. While Ted served his country in the U.S. Air Force, the two traveled the world to numerous military locations including those in Hawaii, Japan and California. The two eventually made their home in North Highlands, California.
Henri spent most of her working career as a supervisor in the credit department of Sear Roebuck. Henrietta was an amazingly courageous woman who fought for equality and elder rights, and was highly instrumental in advancing elder care rights not only for her mother but others as well. Henri loved to entertain and cook. She could whip up a delicious meal as fast as any chef.
Henrietta accepted her call to Christ at an early age and was a member of the St. James Holy Missionary Baptist Church in Sacramento where she was pastored for many years by the late Pastor Robert W. Lambert. Henri is the younger sister of Adolph Ollison. She is survived by her son John and grandson Jerome, by her great grandchildren Marlee and Braden Adcock, her brother Adolph and her God children Nicole and Brooke Howard., Sedona Adcock and Victor Rice.
Other family members who proceeded her in death include her son Michael Wright and her parents.
For those of us who truly knew Henrietta, It was obvious that it was not only a brief illness that took her but a broken heart longing to be reunited with her loving husband Ted whom she adored.
