Earl Henry Green

Our beloved husband and father, Earl Henry Green Jr., died peacefully at his home in Roseville on September 7, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 79. Sharing his active life and his determination to live life to its fullest, it could be said he passed on to a well deserved rest. Earl was born on March 1, 1937 in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Blanche B. and Earl H. Green Sr. In 1943, the Green family moved to California and settled in Rio Linda. Earl graduated from Grant Union High School, and attended American River Jr. College. He caught the attention of Oregon Tech Institute (OTI) and accepted a 2-year football scholarship. In 1959, Earl began an exciting and rewarding career with Aerojet that would span over the next 40 years. In April 1960, Earl was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. While in Berlin, he met Inge. It was love on first sight, and they were married in January, 1963 in Berlin. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Earl returned to Sacramento to continue his job at Aerojet until his retirement in 1999. Earl will always be known for his love of life and his ability to connect with others. He was a man of passion and integrity. He worked hard. He loved and enjoyed his family and many friends. He had a strong sense of fairness and justice, and the softest heart imaginable. He enjoyed boating, RVing, golfing, and cruising. He loved football and basketball. (Go Kings) Earl is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Inge Green; daughter, Marion Brown (Robert); son, Michael Green (Karen); and grandsons, Robert, David, and Michael; sisters, Jeroline Thompson, Doris Jackson, Theresa Allen, and Joan White; brother, Steve Green (Kay); and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A celebration of Earl’s life will be held at: Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 7607 Garden Gate Drive, Citrus Heights, CA 95621 on Thursday, September 22nd, 2016, at 11:00 A.M.
