Benjamin Franklin Arnold

ARNOLD, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN passed away Friday, July 18th, 2003 at the age of 84 in Rio Linda, CA. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois D. (Benedict) Arnold. Beloved father of Terry Arnold of Rio Linda, Bill Arnold of Camino, Joyce Renison of Elverta and Carolyn Bryant of South Lake Tahoe. Ben leaves behind five wonderful grandchildren: Terry Arnold Jr., Ann Ince, Tina Renison, Jennifer Kline, Lisa Arnold and Shawn Renison. He was very proud of his two baby great-granddaughters Kiana Renison and Haley Kline. Born May 26th, 1919 in Tuttle, OK, the youngest child of Ralph and Laura Belle Arnold. Preceded in death by his brother, Ollie Arnold and sisters, Virginia Barnes and Vivian Winters. Survived by his sister Gloria Balzer of Jacksonville, Florida. Ben was raised in the country and enjoyed riding the open range. He joined the US Air Force in 1941, serving as a non-commissioned officer in both Korea and Vietnam, as well as many stateside bases, including both Mather and McClellan Fields. After retiring from the Air Force in 1967, Ben operated two Texaco service stations along with his sons. In their later years, Ben and Lois enjoyed gardening and traveling, visiting relatives across the U.S. and vacationing with their children. Ben was a member of the Scottish Rite, the Oklahoma Masons and Toastmasters International. He liked to make people smile, enjoyed public speaking and could recite many poems, stories and jokes. A survivor, he experienced many years of heart disease, including three open-heart surgeries and congestive heart failure. Ben was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Friends are welcome for visitation on Thursday, July 24th, 2003 from noon until 2:00pm at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, CA with funeral services directly following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
