My wife and I are saddened to learn of Jerry's passing. We always looked forward to our annual visit with Jerry and how enjoyable he made the unpleasant tax process. He was a very sweet man and we wish the best for his family.

I just received my annual letter of new deductions for the year and very sadden to hear of the death of the best tax advisor and teacher Mr. Jerry Smaler. May God give him a job holding Heavens books.
I just received a note that Jerry would no longer be a part of my annual exercise in explaining why something should be a deduction for me. I will miss that and him greatly. He made me look forward to doing my taxes — only because once we finished with the numbers, we talked at length about life and its meaning. His had meaning to me and I'm sure others who found he could make a painful process, if not a joy, well, then, painless. A good man.
I worked with Jerry at the City of Folsom for a year before he moved on to start JMS. I saw him for many years to do taxes and catch up on life. I will miss him along with others.Bob Bailey
Jerry prepared my taxes, and my ex-husband's taxes, for more than 15 years. He was always pleasant, helpful, and very professional. I just found out about his passing earlier today and was very surprised and saddened. He will be greatly missed by many.
Jerry has prepared my taxes for 23 years, and I always enjoy catching up with him at our annual meeting. Throughout the year if I had any questions I knew I could call him for advice and he was always so upbeat and eager to help. He was truly one of the nicest people I've known and he will be missed.My condolences to his family.
